Residents are invited to help Brentwood commemorate on Remembrance Day all those who sacrificed their lives for their country.
Brentwood’s annual Remembrance Day Parade and Service will be taking place on Sunday 10th November.
The parade will start from Brentwood Town Hall at 10:35am and march down Middleton Hall Lane towards the war memorial at the junction with Shenfield Road, where the laying of wreaths will take place and two minutes of silence will be observed. The parade will then continue along Shenfield Road, crossing the mini roundabouts at Wilsons Corner and onto a service at St Thomasβ Church.
The salute will be taken by the Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Jennifer Tolhurst, accompanied by other dignitaries including the Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh and the President of the Brentwood Royal British Legion, Dennis Rensch.
Mayor of Brentwood, Councillor Mark Haigh said: βIt is a privilege to lead the town in remembrance of all those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the course of defending the freedoms we enjoy, and in recognition of the dedication and commitment of all service personnel, past and present, who have served our country. Remembrance Day is a time for reflection, gratitude and unity, as we remember the countless individuals who served to protect our freedoms. We invite all residents to come together, in a spirit of unity and gratitude, to pay respects and honour the courage and sacrifice of these brave individuals.β
The parade will contain contingents from all major uniformed services, Army, Navy and Air Force, including Veterans, Cadets, Essex Police, scouts, guides and local charitable organisations. The parade will be headed by the Brentwood Imperial Youth Band.
There will be road closures around the parade route area from 10:15am as well as bus route diversions and High Street parking restrictions.
